Which Medicare Advantage Plans Are Best in Florida for 2027?

By Best Worst Insurance Editorial TeamUpdated October 18, 2026

Florida is one of the best-rated Medicare Advantage markets in the country. Of the 3,067,116 people in rated contracts there in October 2026, 89% are in one rated four stars or more for 2027, the sixth-highest share of the 50 states and territories we ranked [1,2,3]. Humana dominates: its H1036 contract, rated 4.5, has 541,268 Florida members on its own. The weak spots are a handful of 3 and 3.5-star contracts, Florida Blue's H5434 the largest of them, and a run of big contracts that slipped from 4.5 to 4 this year, UnitedHealthcare's H1045 and CarePlus among them.

1. Florida's Medicare Advantage market

Florida has more people in rated Medicare Advantage contracts than any state but California, and the market is concentrated: the five largest contracts hold 52% of members [1,2,3]. Humana runs three of the six largest, and two of those are rated 4.5.

2. The best-rated options with real enrollment

Among contracts with at least 10,000 Florida members, the highest-rated are Leon Health's H4286 at five stars, with 40,582 members in the state, then Humana's H1036 and H7617 at 4.5 [1,2,3]. Optimum HealthCare, HealthSun and Aetna's H5522 are also 4.5. For every five-star contract and where it is licensed, see the five-star plans.

3. Who slipped

Four large Florida contracts dropped from 4.5 to 4 for 2027: UnitedHealthcare's H1045 with 396,323 members in the state, CarePlus's H1019, Aetna's H5521 and Freedom Health's H5427 [1,2,3]. Four stars is still above average, but if you chose one of these for its 4.5, it is worth comparing again this autumn.

4. The weakest

Florida Blue's H5434, at 3 stars with 61,305 members, is the largest low-rated contract in the state, and HealthSpring's H5410 is also at 3 [1,2,3]. For the lowest-rated plans nationally, see the worst Medicare Advantage plans.

Other states: Texas, Georgia, California, New York. How every state compares: the state ranking. Look up any contract in the 2027 star ratings, or see Humana's full list on the Humana page.
