Star Health Insurance Premium Chart: What Star's Own 2026 Rate Tables Say

By Best Worst Insurance Editorial TeamUpdated 12 October 2026

Download the Star Health Family Health Optima premium chart (PDF, 1.9 MB). Star Health and Allied Insurance does not publish a standalone premium chart. Each product's rate table is printed at the back of its prospectus, and the prospectuses sit on starhealth.in's downloads page [1,2]. We host six of them unchanged. The Family Health Optima prospectus is UIN SHAHLIP26046V092526, version PROS / FHO / V.16 / 2026 [3]. Alongside it are the Star Comprehensive chart (PDF, 2.4 MB), UIN SHAHLIP26044V092526 [4], and the Arogya Sanjeevani chart (PDF, 1.9 MB), UIN SHAHLIP26045V042526 [5]. Since 12 October 2026 the page also carries the Super Star chart (PDF, 2.9 MB), which Star prints under the heading "Base Premium" [2], the Star Health Assure chart (PDF, 0.9 MB) [6] and the Senior Citizens Red Carpet chart (PDF, 1.7 MB) [7]. Below are the rates that matter most, copied from the tables, how each chart has changed since 2024, and what the chart price does not include.

What it is forThe standard one-year premium Star charges by age band, sum insured, family size and (for four of the six) city zone, before loadings and discounts

1. What you are downloading

Each file is a full Star prospectus: who can buy the product, what it covers, the discounts and loadings, and then the premium chart. The charts are the last pages. Star's downloads page lists brochures and prospectuses for every retail product, and none of them is a standalone "premium chart" [1,2].

We started with three. Family Health Optima is Star's best-known family floater, and the copy here is version 16, dated 2026 [3]. Star Comprehensive is the product that prices individual and floater cover side by side up to ₹1 crore [4]. Arogya Sanjeevani is the simplest of the three: a one-year plan from ₹50,000 to ₹10 lakh of cover [5].

On 12 October 2026 we added three more. Super Star is priced by exact age and is sold with cover from ₹5 lakh to unlimited [2]. Star Health Assure is a family plan sold up to ₹2 crore [6]. Senior Citizens Red Carpet is Star's plan for people who join between 60 and 75.

A correction: this page said until 12 October 2026 that Star publishes the Super Star prospectus without its chart. The file name says so, but the document prints the rates on its last thirteen pages under the heading "Base Premium" [1,2]. We had searched it for the words "premium chart" and found none.

2. How to read the chart

Find four things before you look at a number: your family size, your age band, the sum insured, and, for every product here except Arogya Sanjeevani and Red Carpet, your zone.

  1. Family size. Rows are labelled 1A, 2A, 2A+1C and so on, where A is an adult and C a child. Family Health Optima is floater-only, and the smallest family on its chart is 1A+1C. Parents and parents-in-law are priced per head on separate pages [3].
  2. Age band. The chart prints bands, not exact ages. The prospectuses do not say whose age sets the band on a floater, so ask before you buy.
  3. Zone. Look your city up on printed page 37 of Family Health Optima or page 2 of Star Comprehensive. The zone lists differ between products: Mumbai is Zone B on Family Health Optima and Zone A on Star Comprehensive and Super Star [3][4][2]. Super Star has three zones, Family Health Optima and Star Health Assure four, Star Comprehensive five.
  4. Which chart. Family Health Optima prints a "Fresh Customers" set and an "Other Customers" set. The second is higher, carries the renewal-only ₹1-4 lakh sums insured, and tells you to apply the claim-experience discount [3]. The prospectus never defines "other customers". We read it as renewing, ported and migrated policyholders, but we have not confirmed that with Star.

3. Super Star base premium, by age and zone

Super Star base premium for one year, in rupees, "Excluding GST". One adult on an individual policy, plus the rate each adult pays in a two-adult policy. Star prints the table age by age; the rates move in the five-year steps shown. PDF pages 56-63 [2].

Above 801,01,3961,21,5661,06,3701,00,29297,253

Super Star is priced by exact age, in five-year steps, and the biggest step is at 61. ₹10 lakh in Zone A costs ₹22,315 a year at 56-60 and ₹35,270 at 61-65, which is 58% more [2]. Zone A, which here includes Mumbai and all of Gujarat as well as Delhi, is about 21% dearer than the rest of India [2].

A couple is priced per adult. Each adult in a two-adult policy pays the lower rate in the last column, so adults aged 41 and 37 pay ₹14,893 together for a shared ₹10 lakh, against ₹19,857 for two separate ₹10 lakh policies [2]. Children are added at their own rates, which are on PDF page 68.

"Base premium" is Star's phrase. The note under its own illustration says these are standard rates "without considering any loading" and exclusive of tax. The PDF also has the rates for ₹7.5 lakh, ₹15 lakh and above, up to unlimited cover.

4. Family Health Optima rates, by zone

Family Health Optima, fresh customers, ₹10 lakh sum insured, one-year premium in rupees. Two adults (2A) by age band, plus the separate charge for each dependent parent. Printed pages 38-47 and 56 of the prospectus. The chart does not say whether tax is included [3,4,5].

The zone effect is large and perfectly regular. In every cell we checked, Zone A is about 1.57 times Zone D [3]. A Mumbai family pays a little less than a Delhi family; a family in Lucknow or Kolkata pays about two-thirds as much.

One oddity runs through both the Family Health Optima and Star Comprehensive charts. Age 60 is a band of its own, and it is usually cheaper than 56-59 [3,4]. Neither prospectus explains it. The older Star Comprehensive chart does: see section 9.

5. Star Health Assure: four zones, up to ₹2 crore

Star Health Assure, ₹10 lakh sum insured, one-year premium in rupees, "Excluding GST". One adult (individual) against two adults on a floater (2A), in the dearest zone (A) and the cheapest (D). PDF pages 42-43 and 50-51 [6].

Two adults aged 36-45 pay ₹20,880 for a ₹10 lakh floater in Zone A and ₹16,702 in Zone D [6]. Zone A here is Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara; Zone D is everywhere the prospectus does not name [6]. The PDF has the same table for six more family sizes and for every sum insured from ₹5 lakh to ₹2 crore.

6. Star Comprehensive: individual against floater

Star Comprehensive, ₹10 lakh sum insured, one-year premium in rupees, "Excluding Tax". One adult (1A, individual) against two adults on a floater (2A), in the dearest zone (A) and the cheapest (E). Printed pages 42-43 and 50-51.

Star Comprehensive is the chart to use if you want to see what floater pricing actually saves. Two adults at 36-45 in Zone A pay ₹25,434 on a ₹10 lakh floater, against ₹31,792 for two individual policies [4]. That is about 20% less, for half the total cover [4]. Its zone gap is far smaller than Family Health Optima's, because its Zone E is not much cheaper than Zone A.

7. Arogya Sanjeevani: one price for all of India

Arogya Sanjeevani, one-year premium in rupees, "Excluding GST". One national rate, no zones [5]. Printed pages 14-15. Children and parents are added at their own per-head rates, which are in the PDF.

This is the simplest chart here and one of the cheapest. Two adults aged 36-45 pay ₹11,963 for ₹10 lakh, wherever they live [5]. The price buys a narrower policy. You pay 5% of every admissible claim, and a room above 2% of the sum insured, or ₹5,000 a day, cuts the rest of the hospital bill in proportion [5].

8. Senior Citizens Red Carpet: one price at every age

Senior Citizens Red Carpet, premium in rupees, "Excluding Tax". The price does not change with age [7]. Two- and three-year premiums are after the long-term discount. PDF page 21.

Red Carpet is the only chart here with no age bands. Anyone who joins between 60 and 75 pays the same premium for the same cover [7]: ₹22,347 a year for ₹5 lakh [7] and ₹27,533 for ₹10 lakh [7]. The chart is one page of a 24-page prospectus, and the pages before it matter more than the price. How Red Carpet's co-payment and limits compare with other senior plans is on the best and worst senior health insurance in India.

9. How Star's charts changed between 2024 and 2026

Star replaces each prospectus on its server when it revises one, so the old chart disappears. The Wayback Machine kept copies of five of them from March 2025. This table puts the same cell from the old chart and the current one side by side.

The same cell in the previous official version of each prospectus and in the current one. One-year premiums in rupees, excluding tax. The earlier files are Star's own, as the Wayback Machine captured them from Star's document server in March 2025. Family Health Optima is missing because its earlier prospectus printed no chart.

Senior Citizens Red Carpet, 2A floater, ₹10 lakh40,050 (V.11 / 2024)44,055 (V.13 / 2025)+10.0%

Three things stand out. Red Carpet and Arogya Sanjeevani each went up by exactly 10.0% in every cell we checked [8,7][12,5]. Super Star did not move at all [2,10].

Star Comprehensive changed the most. It had one national chart until late 2025, then split into five zones. In Zone A every age band below 60 rose 25.0%, and every band from 60 rose 10.0% [9,4][9,4]. That is where the separate age-60 band comes from. The old chart had one rate for 56-60, ₹28,264 for ₹10 lakh. Raised 25% it is the new 56-59 rate, ₹35,330; raised 10% it is the new rate at 60, ₹31,090. IRDAI has barred insurers since 30 January 2025 from raising a senior citizen's premium by more than 10% a year, and it counts a senior citizen from 60 [13][13]. Star does not give that as the reason, but the arithmetic fits to the rupee.

Star Health Assure shows the same split at a different age: 6.5% up to 50 and 10.0% from 51 in Zone A [6,11]. What the 10% rule means for a renewal is on can your insurer raise a senior's premium by more than 10%.

10. What the chart price leaves out

What moves your premium away from the chart, as each prospectus states it.

ItemWhat the prospectus says
Medical underwriting loadingUp to 125% per diagnosis or condition, up to 200% overall per person, kept on renewals [3,4,5]
Paying in instalmentsMonthly +4%, quarterly +3%, half-yearly +2% [3,4,5]
Buying online5% off; on Family Health Optima also on online renewals of a policy first bought online [3,4]
Two- or three-year policy10% off the second year's premium; 12.5% off the third on Star Comprehensive [3,4]
Claims history (Family Health Optima)Discount starts at 27% with no claims history, 0-29% on the claims grid, plus 5% if the eldest insured is 61 or over [3]
Shorter PED wait (Star Comprehensive)36 months cut to 12 for a first-year loading of 20% to 50% by age, first purchase only [4]
Rural discount (Arogya Sanjeevani)10% up to age 59, 20% from 60 [5]
GSTNil on individual and family floater health policies since 22 September 2025 [14]

The loadings matter most for anyone with a known condition, because they are applied from the start and carried into every renewal [3,4,5]. A chart price for a diabetic 50-year-old is a floor, not a quote.

Joining after 60 has its own cost. The co-payment for joining at 61 or older is 20% of every claim on Family Health Optima [3] and 10% on Star Comprehensive [4]. The premium tables do not show it, so a senior comparing the charts alone will rank these products wrongly.

11. What these documents do not tell you

They do not tell you your price. Star quotes after underwriting, and the prospectuses say only that a loading or exclusion will come as a counter-offer [3,4,5]. Each one shows only its own current rates; the comparison in section 9 needed the earlier files. And they do not say which product a claims team treats most generously.

Our view: for most families the chart price is the least useful number in these PDFs. The co-payment, the room-rent rule and the senior entry terms decide what a claim actually pays, and those sit on the earlier pages of the same documents.

12. Where this fits

If you are buying for parents over 60, Star's dedicated senior plan is Red Carpet, in section 8. How it and other senior plans compare on cost is on what senior health insurance costs in India. If a renewal has jumped, insurers may not raise a senior citizen's premium by more than 10% a year [13]; the rule and how to use it are on can your insurer raise a senior's premium by more than 10%. The full senior ranking is at the best and worst senior health insurance in India.

Star can revise its premium rates, telling policyholders thirty days before the change, and the versions here are the ones live on 2 October 2026, or 12 October 2026 for Super Star, Star Health Assure and Red Carpet. Check the official copies on starhealth.in/downloads before relying on a rate for a purchase.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I download the Star Health insurance premium chart PDF?
Here, unchanged from Star's own site: Family Health Optima (PDF, 1.9 MB), Star Comprehensive (PDF, 2.4 MB), Arogya Sanjeevani (PDF, 1.9 MB), Super Star (PDF, 2.9 MB), Star Health Assure (PDF, 0.9 MB) and Senior Citizens Red Carpet (PDF, 1.7 MB). Star's official copies are on starhealth.in/downloads, under each product's Prospectus link. There is no separate "premium chart" file; the chart is the last section of each prospectus [1,2].
Is the Star Health premium chart inclusive of GST?
The Star Comprehensive and Arogya Sanjeevani charts say they exclude tax, and the Family Health Optima chart says nothing either way [3,4,5]. For a retail buyer it no longer changes the bill. GST on individual and family floater health policies has been nil since 22 September 2025 [14]. Any "including 18% GST" Star chart you find online predates that.
What is the premium for a Star Health 3 lakh policy?
On Arogya Sanjeevani, ₹3 lakh costs ₹4,939 a year for one adult aged 36-45 and ₹15,186 at 61-65; for two adults it is ₹7,409 and ₹22,781, excluding GST [5]. Family Health Optima no longer sells ₹3 lakh to new customers. Its ₹1-4 lakh options are for renewals only [3].
Where is the Star Health Super Star premium chart?
It is in the Super Star prospectus, under the heading "Base Premium" and not "Premium Chart": download it here (PDF, 2.9 MB); the tables are on PDF pages 56 to 68. The file name on Star's server says "without Premium Chart", which is why it is hard to find [1,2]. One adult with ₹10 lakh in Zone A pays ₹9,042 a year at 36-40 and ₹10,815 at 41-45, excluding GST [2]. Until 12 October 2026 this page said Star published no Super Star chart. That was our mistake.
How much did Star Health increase its premiums in 2025?
It depends on the plan and your age. Every Senior Citizens Red Carpet premium rose 10.0% [8,7] and so did Arogya Sanjeevani [12,5]. Star Comprehensive rose 25.0% in Zone A for buyers under 60 [9,4] and 10.0% from age 60 [9,4]. Star Health Assure rose 6.5% up to age 50 and 10.0% from 51 in Zone A [6,11]. Super Star's rates did not change between its 2024 and 2026 prospectuses [2,10]. These are changes to the printed chart; your own renewal can differ.
Which zone am I in for Star Health premium?
Family Health Optima uses four zones. A is Delhi NCR and nearby districts plus Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara. B is Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad and the rest of Gujarat. C covers Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Indore and a few others, and D is everywhere else [3]. Star Comprehensive uses five, A to E, with different lists: Zone A there includes all of Gujarat and Mumbai [4]. Arogya Sanjeevani has no zones.
Is a family floater cheaper than individual policies at Star Health?
On Star Comprehensive's Zone A chart, a ₹10 lakh floater for two adults aged 36-45 costs about 20% less than two individual ₹10 lakh policies [4]. The catch is that the couple shares one ₹10 lakh for the year instead of having ₹10 lakh each. For older couples, where one big claim can use up a shared sum insured, that trade looks worse.
Why does my Star Health renewal premium not match the chart?
Usually because a different chart applies, or something has been added. Family Health Optima prints a separate, higher "Other Customers" chart that carries a claims-history discount [3][3]. Any medical loading applied when you joined also stays on at renewal [3,4,5]. If you are a senior citizen, the increase itself is capped at 10% a year [13].
